Comace

Newsletter - January 2012

From our Managing Director
I would like to take this opportunity in this our first newsletter and in our 30th year in business to reflect on our achievements and prospects for the future. Who would have thought that all this would come from making sporting trophies part time so many years ago?

Comace has grown from a very small shed in the back blocks of Lonsdale S.A. to be a considerable force in the fitout industry in S.A.  This achievement has come in no small way from the dedication of the Comace staff over the years and the repeat clients that have given us the opportunity to perform their works.

We have not achieved the success that we have alone and recognition needs to go to others also for their support and assistance while not forgetting their patience while dealing with myself. Some of these organisations are; the Innovate S.A. team, Enterprise Connect team, True North Organisational Development, Duncan Murphy Chartered Accountants, Breath Marketing, Empower Marketing NZ and yes even our bank the Business Centre at ANZ.

I would like to think that Comace is an exceptional place to work where the moral is high, people grow through training and the culture is above reproach. This I am sure is reflected in the quality and dedication to service that we give our clients. Our accreditations, systems and processes are proof that we strive for excellence and we continue to raise the bar within our industry. Having just had our triennial accreditation audit I have been impressed with how the Comace team pulled together over the last three years to have an exceptionally good result. Thanks must go to Arthur our QHSE Manager for keeping us all on track.

I am humbled by the dedication of our staff past and present and recognise that any business is only as good as the quality of staff onboard. I thank you all for this dedication and hard work and look forward to many more years of working together.
The devil’s in the detail...
Comace underwent a two-day Triennial Audit in September 2011.  Our systems, policies and procedures were thoroughly scrutinised by OH&S and Quality Assurance auditors.  No time was spared on even the smallest detail of our implementation.  Comace conducts an internal bi-annual audit which is further reinforced by an external audit annually.  As Arthur Gelekis, QHSE Manager at Comace states, “In our industry, Comace is doing a lot more than other companies to finetune its OH&S and quality structures but there is always room for improvement”.  In the year that Arthur has been at Comace there has been considerable growth in regard to OHS & Quality measures.  As a continued improvement, all Comace managers and supervisors have been committed to upgrading to the latest OH&S Master Builders qualifications.  This course covers a range of OHS aspects such as practical and theoretical concepts, duties of care, hazard and risk assessment criteria.

Comace’s commitment to continual improvements is part of the promise to deliver quality products and service at all times to our clients and be No1 in our industry for quality assurance and OH&S in everything we do.

Operating towards Success - Joinery

Comace delivers on a simple promise:  Give us the chance and we’ll prove it to you.
Our newly appointed Business Development Manager, Russell Bourn, agrees and also that the relationship built with our clients is the most important aspect of partnering with Comace.

Russell is our past Operations Manager and has the gift of the gab that makes him perfect for his new position.  His past experience has proved that communication and delivering what the client wants above all else is the key to a successful ongoing relationship.

Mario Ferreira has taken over the position of Production Manager coming from the production supervisor position and has all the experience necessary to deal with the myriad of jobs coming our way. All staff have the confidence in Mario’s ability and look forward to his sometimes unique way of getting things done the way he wants.

Mick Sutton will be in Mario’s old chair as Production Supervisor after doing his time on the factory floor and being one of our finest installers. I am sure that all will agree that Micks work ethic and dedication to quality will see him do a fine job.

Comace’s Joinery department has recently added to its machinery with the demands of a growing workload, investing in a 2nd CNC machine with all the trimmings.

Our apprenticeship program has proven to be a valuable asset to our company and provides a supportive environment for aspiring tradesmen.  The latest being Jack Martin. Welcome Jack to the team.
