Comace MD Williams elected to Edwardstown Region business chair
Updated 26 August 2011 Paul Williams, elected this month to chair the Edwardstown Region Business Association, is starting a membership drive to extend ERBA’s effective networking and optimise its value to the inner southern precinct’s business community.
Paul, who is MD of commercial joinery and maintenance service provider, Comace Pty Ltd, aims to develop networking momentum and engagement in a “team effort”.
“We aim to keep local businesses up to date with changes and events happening in our region – a lot is happening that most people are unaware of unless members of an association like ours,” Paul says.
He says ERBA provides a platform for networking with others in the region connecting a diverse range of professionals. He plans to reinvigorate membership through a recruiting drive.
It will provide the opportunity for ongoing education via regular presentations/workshops featuring speakers are of very high quality.
ERBA will engage with and work with the staff of City of Marion and City of Mitcham as well as all business within the region, which includes the suburbs of Clarence Gardens, Clarence Park, Clovelly Park, Daw Park, Edwardstown, Melrose Park, St Marys and Tonsley Park.
And ERBA will encourage sponsorship of the association by professional companies that want exposure to all the business in the region at a low cost.
Paul says ERBA is “essentially a team effort” which he will lead by example and encouragement.
“The more you put in the more you will get out – the benefits are fantastic,” he says.
The challenges to ERBA's goals are the busy personal and business workload all members of the committee carry.
"Most of the businesses in the area are time poor, so encouraging business to be a part of and attending the association meetings will be a challenge,” Paul says.
ERBA is also seeking funding to continue the employment of a Business Facilitator and to stage high quality events for the membership ERBA is seeking support such as access to venues for meetings or engaging speakers at no or low charge. Business sponsorship for ERBA is also available.
“We are putting packages together for business to encourage sponsorship,” Paul says. Comace MD Williams elected to Edwardstown Region business chair
